Second generation bioplastics are sourced from organic waste that does not compete with food production and are processed until they become polymers.
The main advantage of biobased materials is that they allow us to reduce the carbon footprint of our packaging. And this is because part of the emissions produced during the manufacture of raw materials are offset by the capture of C02 resulting from the agricultural crops and thanks to the fast crop regeneration.
The collaboration with ISCC Plus has also paved the way for ITC to add new bio-based materials to its portfolio, which guarantee the sustainability of the raw material thanks to the reduction of carbon emissions. In the next few months the first projects that incorporate this type of second generation biobased material will be released.
