Towards a circular economy

Plastic has become the ideal material to package and preserve food in an efficient, cost effective manner. And it is not showing any signs of slowing down thanks to its lightweight, resistance, versatile and cost saving features, making it a convenient and environmentally friendly option. While performing the same role as packaging manufactured from other materials, plastic containers use considerably less raw materials, thus using less energy and producing less emissions.

However, we must all join forces to get rid of the "use and dispose" habit associated with plastic products in order to replace it with a resource re utilisation culture. At ITC, we are keen demonstrate our full commitment with these policies aimed at optimising the plastic and packaging industries.

Circular solutions

At ITC, we begin with the premise that, when it comes to sustainability, there is no 'one size fits all' approach that can be applied to every product and method of consumption. For that reason, we have focused all our efforts in developing and implementing a wide portfolio of sustainable choices that allows us to provide circular solutions such as recycled, bio-based and compostable materials.

rPP
Food Grade

The chemical recycled polypropylene provides the same quality and foodsafety standards than the virgin material, therefore making it suitable for food contact.

(rPET)

All our injection and blow moulded packaging may be manufactured from either food grade or non food grade recycled PET.

With mechanical recycling we manage to reuse raw material to a circular cycle. In the case of r-PP it is only suitable for non-food uses.

Biobased Packaging

Biobased Packaging

The biobased Polypropylene comes from non-fossil and renewable sources, by reusing waste streams and residues. By incorporating biobased polypropylene we manage to reduce the carbon footprint of our products.

Compostable

Compostable

Compostable packaging offer the possibility of revaluing containers to create reusable compost for crops, implementing a circular economy. It requires a prior study to certify the suitability of the material and its decomposition in the time and manner indicated by regulations

ISO 14001:2005

In addition, ITC Packaging's environmental management system has achieved the ISO 14001:2005 certification, a procedure that includes both its processes and facilities from an environmental responsibility point of view acknowledging our exhaustive analysis of all possible hazards and the action plans implemented to correctly manage these.

Sello ISCC Plus

ISCC Plus

ITC has been granted with the ISCC Plus seal, a certification system that involves the entire value chain responsible for placing packaging in the market, thereby ensuring traceability of all raw materials while guaranteeing that they come from sustainable sources.

By using this protocol, ITC are able to manufacture new circular packaging produced from materials sourced from recycled chemicals that are therefore suitable for food contact.
